Here’s What Happens When You Lock Your Bike Up in the Panhandle – Well That’s Banal, But OMG, This is the Same Make/Model “Mountain”“Bike” as What I Bought at the Costco for $199.99, More Than Three Decades Ago, Ah Memories

Ah, memories. Look, high tech Cro Moly 41xx steel – oh but it’s heavy anyway.

And oh, Shimano index shifting, which was the style at the time.

So a Skykomish Marble Point was my second MTB, after getting a “MOTIV” brand bike, also for $199.99, also from the South Airport Drive Costco (oddly located north of SFO), cept back then we called it Price Club, which was the style at the time. (Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ’em. “Gimme five bees for a quarter,” you’d say. Now where were we… oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have any white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones…)

Now where were we, oh yes, my most recent purchase was from Walmart – $74.99. It worked just fine for years, well a couple years. Parked it on gritty Mission Street every day rain or shine. Ah memries.
